First of all, I just want to go ahead and say that I do not ship this as a “crack pairing” or as a result from “insane fangirling” or whatever else the judgmental people say. I kept these reasons as realistic as possible. I am not one of those “girls who ship KidxCrona just because they look good together” nor am I one of those “girls who ship KidxCrona because Kid touched Crona’s shoulder at one point in the series”. So, if you’re thinking that right after reading the title to this post, get it out of your mind immediately.
Now then. Let’s begin. :D Reasons for shipping KidxCrona:
They have the whole “opposites attract” thing going on. The son of a high-status grim reaper (motherfucking LORD DEATH), and the child of a notorious witch (badass Medusa). That’s the lowest you can get in that world, because witches are hunted by the very academy Lord Death created. They’re mortal enemies. Forbidden love much? Yes. I find it very intriguing.
Also, Kid and Crona are both very powerful, but Kid is confident in his abilities, and Crona is very unconfident. The idea of Kid helping Crona through his insecurities through affection and love is something very ship-worthy. Kid may be a stern character, but we all know he has his soft spots. He can be sweet and romantic and seme-like when he wants to be. (And we all know Crona’s the uke ;D Lol.)
And to use the reference of the amazing doujin artist Dragula, they’re contrastive relationship is awesome. It makes everything so beautiful, dark, and interesting. Kid has a great father, and Crona has the worst mother. Kid is “pure blood” (direct descendant of Lord Death) and Crona is “mixed blood” (His black blood and demon sword). Kid is a god that keeps order, and Crona has a “Hell inside his head”, which means that not only does Crona possibly not even believe in a god, but he’s on the devil’s path rather than the righteous road. Kid wants to take over Death’s position for his dad, and Crona is being forced by his mother to become a Kishin. All those elements can create both a very lovely, and a very dark, love story. I mean, shit, if Kid becomes a god and Crona becomes a Kishin (the very thing that opposes a god- y’know, a fucking DEMON god), imagine the fucking love story that could erupt from that? Unf.
Oh, and they’re not a crack pairing. A crack pairing is when someone ships two characters that don’t even interact with each other or know each other. That is not the case with Kid and Crona. They’ve had interaction more than once in both the series and the manga. Also, every time they were seen interacting, Kid was giving Crona advice on how to fix the negativities in his life.
On the ghost ship, Kid was telling Crona to strengthen his soul if he hopes to fix his life and become unafraid of things. Yeah, he was shooting him, but Kid was mostly just carrying out his duty, on top of being personally upset with the way Crona chose to deal with things. They interact again at Kid’s party, and that was when Kid gave him more advice. Kid was the first person after Maka who reached out to Crona. As far as I’m concerned, he was the first one to get a word in, because he met Crona before Maka saved him.
There was also the other interaction they had in the hallway at school. It was a quick moment because it was a flashback, but Kid was helping Crona adjust to the school and the rules. It’s not much, but it still shows private interaction between the two, and it shows that Kid cares about Crona. I would also like to point out one more thing. It’s not canon, but just hear me out. The part when BJ, one of the death scythes (the one who loves coffee beans), was walking in the underground hallways of the DWMA (where Crona was being held prisoner) he comes across Kid just randomly standing there. Kid sees him and begins to question him about stuff, but when the conversation is over, BJ continues on and Kid doesn’t follow him. Why was Kid down there in the first place, and why didn’t Kid follow BJ if he really wanted his questions answered? I’ll tell you a huge possible reason. Kid was originally down there to visit Crona. Idk if he was on his way to Crona’s cell, or on his way back, but it’s a certain possibility that that’s what he was doing. I know it’s a headcanon, but c’mon, it makes sense.
See, people just need to realize that hardcore KidxCrona shippers ship them mostly for what CAN happen between them rather than what already DID happen in the series.
And to those who are all like “omg Crona is too asymmetrical for Kid”, just stop. And think about it. Is Crona really that asymmetrical? Those sexy fucking curves of his seem pretty symmetrical to me. And dat ass. Dem butt cheeks are symmetrical as hell. However, if you guys are referring to Crona’s hair, I still stand by what I said. Kid can definitely see past Crona’s asymmetrical hair, because it’s not like he’s ever said anything about it before. If he didn’t freak out over Crona’s hair by now, he’s not going to. End of story. As for Crona’s gender, that’s kind of a completely different story, but I view him as a cismale. I personally don’t give a fuck if you ship him with Kid as a cisfemale, but I honestly think Kid is gay. Therefore, my shipment works for me. Why would Kid be straight? I’m not even a huge fan of yaoi or yuri because of stereotypical reasons, but I do not see Death the Kid being straight. He’s a bit too sassy. He has gay moments and gay body language a lot, and his movements can be rather… not manly sometimes. I don’t know, maybe that’s just me. Also, he doesn’t get aroused by females. You’ve seen him with boobs and naked females. He’s just like *blink* about it. And a straight relationship would be asymmetrical. Two penises = symmetry, yes? ;D Anyways, Crona’s gender is the last thing I worry about when I meet a fellow KidxCrona shipper. Although, I get way more excited when they actually ship it as a yaoi couple.
But yeah. Those are pretty much all of the main reasons as to why we ship Death the Kid and Crona. We admit that we also ship them because they’re absolutely adorable together, but that is just a minor reason. And yes, they’ve had physical interaction in the series, like Kid touching Crona’s shoulder as well as crotch-to-face contact, but we don’t ship KidxCrona based solely off of those things. Anyways, I believe we made our point. Btw, I didn’t make this post to challenge anyone. If you reply to this, remember that nobody cares to just be respectful.
